Cleanse & Polish The Results

Cocoa flower

(Theobroma cacao)

Famous for its excellent emollient properties, we source our cocoa butter from West Africa, where fermented beans of the cocoa tree are roasted, cracked and ground to give a powdery solid called cocoa mass, from which cocoa butter is pressed.

(Rosmarinus officinalis)

Used for its antioxidant properties, we source our rosemary from Spain, where the extract is filtered from the needle-shaped leaves of the plant.

(Anthemis nobilis)

Legendary for its skin-soothing properties, the flowers of this aromatic perennial are harvested in England in the summer, before the ingredient is solvent extracted from the fragrant flower.

(Eucalyptus globulus)

Renowned for its purifying properties and invigorating aroma, we source our eucalyptus from China, where our essential oil is steam distilled from the leaves of the fast-growing eucalyptus tree.

Aqua (water), Caprylic/capric triglyceride, Theobroma cacao (cocoa) seed butter, Cetearyl alcohol, Cetyl esters, Cera alba (beeswax), Glycerin, Polysorbate 60, Sorbitan stearate, Eucalyptus globulus leaf oil, Rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf extract, Humulus lupulus (hops) extract, Chamomilla recutita (matricaria) flower extract, Propylene glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Panthenol, Benzoic acid, Dehydroacetic acid, Sorbitol, Limonene, Ethylhexylglycerin, Polyaminopropyl biguanide, Citric acid, Sodium hydroxide.

In light of the current situation, we are placing international orders on pause. Please rest assured this is a temporary measure and we’ll be letting you know as soon as there are any changes. We really appreciate your patience and understanding.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this ! I have been using this product since I first discovered Liz Earle on QVC....could be 20 years ! I really do think it has helped to keep my 66 year old skin reasonably presentable and I love the routine of hot cloth cleansing, morning and evening.....please don’t ever change the ‘original’ fragrance Cleanse & Polish !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good cleanser This has been absolutely brilliant. I suffered with red patches on my face for a long time but once I started using the cleanser and cloth, the patches have disappeared over the years. For my age my skin is very good and clear.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from "COCOA BUTTER SADLY CLOGS PORES"!!!!! Firstly I love all Liz Earle products and have used on a regular basis but the Cleanse & Polish I am so sorry to say after going back and forth to it just causes break outs. I didn't realise that Cocoa Butter is highly comedogenic which unfortunately for us guys & gals that are prone to break outs/acne prone skin is a no no. If the cocoa butter was replaced with shea butter for instance (non-comedogenic) you would have a happier skin its a shame as you can pick a specific moisturiser for your skin type but not your cleanser.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing Hot Cloth Cleanser I heard so much about Hot Cloth Cleansers. Went to Liz Earle at boots and tried. I was amazed how clean fresh n hydrated my skin felt. I was in love with it right away. After checking ingredients I was little put off because it contained a chemical Polyaminopropyl biguanide. Problem sorted by other versions of Hot Cloth cleanser from Liz Earle. They don’t contain this chemical. Please remove this chemical from original one. People like me who don’t use chemicals can use it without compromising. Apart from this Cleanser smells divine I am in Love. A must try.

What is the PH level?

Asked by: Cbla
Hello We can confirm that all of our products are pH balanced; most of the range is balanced to around 5.5, which is the skin’s normal pH.   This means that they are neither too alkaline or too acidic for the skin.  We hope this helps but please call our Customer Centre on 0800 413318 if you have any further queries or if there is anything else we can assist with.

Is this product gluten free?

I see it contains hops. Is this gluten and wheat free?
Asked by: JulieD40
Thanks for getting in touch. While we can confirm which products include wheat as an intentional ingredient, without completing a full assessment of the entire supply chain we are unable to offer a full list of products that are free from wheat (so our products may not be suitable for someone with coeliac disease, for example, depending on how serious their allergy is). As a common sense precaution we would always recommend a 24 hour patch test is conducted prior to the first use of any new skincare product. I hope this information helps - The Liz Earle Naturally Active Team

Do you have to use the cloth to remove the product?

Can I use large cotton pads run under hot water to remove instead of the reusable cloth?
Asked by: Newgirl
Thanks for getting in touch. For best results, we would recommend that your use our Cleanse & Polish with the Pure Cotton Cloth, as the cloth will gently buff the skin, and helps keep your pores clean and clear. I hope this information helps - The Liz Earle Beauty Co. Team

Can you take the cleanser off with the skin tonic or do you advise water first?

For example if you have had a skin peel and should refrain from using water.
Asked by: Wallis
For best results we would advise gently removing our Cleanse & Polish with water and the pure cotton cloth. However, if you are unable to use water for any reason then you may wish to try using our Instant Boost Skin Tonic as a temporary alternative. We hope this helps. The Liz Earle Beauty Co. Team

How long would a 30ml (travel size) tube of cleanse and polish last?

I'm going away for 10 days and looking to travel light. Assuming I only used it once a day does anyone have any idea how many uses I could get out of a 30ml tube of cleanse and polish?
Asked by: JBar
I've found it contains enough for two weeks, using it twice a day. If you're only using it once a day for ten days, you'll certainly have plenty left over.

How often should the cloth be washed? Do I was it in the laundry with my clothes but how often? Also how often should I change the cloth too?

Asked by: Shiv
Thank you for contacting us. We would recommend to wash your cotton cloth after every couple of uses to keep the cotton fresh and clean. Cloths can be washed in with your normal white or light wash at 30 degrees. The open weave allows our cotton cloths to dry quickly and prevent growth of bacteria. If you have very sensitive skin and find detergent residue irritates, try washing the cloths in soap flakes or boiling them in plain water. I hope this information helps - The Liz Earle Beauty Co. Is this product plastic free?

Asked by: Abcd
Hello, thanks for getting in touch! We do use plastic packaging for our Cleanse & Polish. Currently our Cleanse & Polish pumps are not recyclable due to the mix of materials we use, however, we're working on improving this. If you would like more information or have any more questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch at or on 0800 413318. - The Liz Earle Beauty Co. team
