COCOA BUTTER
(Theobroma cacao)
Famous for its excellent emollient properties, we source our cocoa butter from West Africa, where fermented beans of the cocoa tree are roasted, cracked and ground to give a powdery solid called cocoa mass, from which cocoa butter is pressed.
EUCALYPTUS ESSENTIAL OIL
(Eucalyptus globulus)
Renowned for its purifying properties and invigorating aroma, we source our eucalyptus from China, where our essential oil is steam distilled from the leaves of the fast-growing eucalyptus tree.
JOJOBA BEADS
(Jojoba esters)
Prized for their gentle exfoliating action, jojoba beads leave skin clearer, brighter and more polished. To create our naturally biodegradable beads that are kind to the environment, pale yellow jojoba oil is hydrogenated to create a hard white wax, which is then warmed and dropped from a height to create smooth spheres.

Favourite exfoliator
Love this exfoliator, gentle but very effective. I do agree, though, that the top needs to be a flip-top rather than a screw top as it is difficult to manage when in the shower.

So Gentle
Not sure if I’ve already reviewed this Face Exfoliating Cream, but having sensitive skin and prone to out breaks of dryness on my face, this is the best facial treatment ever! Used sparingly and once a week, makes a great difference. Thoroughly recommend this to others of similar skin problems

A weekly essential
I’ve used this for years and it gently exfoliates without drying out my skin. I use once a week in the morning before a shower and follow with Liz Earle toner. Some years ago, as part of a group of women of all ages, I had my skin analysed by a beauty therapist who said my skin was the best in the group and asked what exfoliator I used.

Gentle but effective
I love this - it’s gentle but effective, I usually massage in and leave for a few minutes before rinsing off, leaves skins soft and fresh looking. As with all Liz Earle products it smells clean but not an overpowering scent.

Lovely gentle exfoliator
I bought this for my teenage son, who is struggling with his skin. It's gentle enough for his young skin, but also does the job of cleansing the pores and removing the flakey dead skin. The packaging is great too. Thank you.

Gentle exfoliation
Feels gentle on my skin. A little goes a long way. Im not sure if it adds much to my cleansing regime with the Liz Earle hot wash cleanser which is removed via an exfoliating cloth but Ive not been using it long. We shall see.

Great exfoliator but awful new packaging.
This is my favourite exfoliator because it's not harsh but cleans really well however the new packaging is awful, the screw cap is horrible to get back on. I can understand why it's been into a tube because I think with the pump, lots of product was being left at the bottom. I don't have an issue with the tube but the cap is horrible to get back on. You should make the exfoliator packaging same as the cleanse and polish tubes. That would be great.

Fabulous gentle exfoliation
I always use Liz Earle gentle face exfoliator emerging from winter to spring. It is amazing for sensitive (& aging!) skin; it isn’t harsh but provides enough power to shed all the build up from being indoors over the colder months. This product brings back a fresh glow to my face and perks me up ready for the new season !

Great product for gentle exfoliating
I love this gentle exfoliator. I have difficult skin with acne rosacea and keratosis pilaris on my face but this helps keep it smoother. However, I don’t like the new tube style. It is difficult to handle if you are not very dexterous. Please bring back pump container.

However, I do not like the change you have made in the tubing and screw lid which is very awkward to screw back on. Also the exfoliator does not smell as nice as before.

It’s best on damp skin. The exfoliator itself is great, however due to the dreadfully impractical packaging I just cant use it anymore.

Could you tell me if you are actively looking at different packaging options for this product in light of the reviews or not? I won’t be buying it again until the packaging is sorted.

As part of our journey to tread as lightly as possible with the impact we have on the planet, we have updated our mask and treatment range to be much easier to recycle from home. Our new packaging is made from recyclable aluminium. Not only this, the range looks much more consistent with one another, making it easier to find the targeted solution for your skincare need.
Whilst we can confirm we are not currently looking to change this packaging, we will certainly pass your feedback on to our Packaging Team. Comments from customers really help us when making future improvements.
In the meantime, we can confirm that our Gentle Face Exfoliator 15ml travel size does not come in an aluminium tube, but instead comes in our recyclable plastic tubes.

What is the difference between your 2 exfoliators please?
I use Cleanse and Polish most nights, the Gentle Exfoliator about once a week. I am aged 70. My daughter aged 42 uses Cleanse and Polish every day both morning and night as a 'refreshing daily cleanser' as she describes it. She uses the Gentle Exfoliator every few days, a.m. only as a deep scrub. I love the the Brightening Treatment Mask and use it about 2 or 3 times a week in the morning. It is not like a heavy mud or mask which tightens on the skin, just revitalises and makes one feel and look good.

Our Gentle Face Exfoliator is ideal for teenager acne prone skin types where it contains moisturising cocoa butter to soften skin, purifying eucalyptus and fine jojoba beads which gently buffs away dead skin cells and impurities to help clear up blackheads, blocked pores and congested skin. We would recommend using this 2-3 times a week.
None of the products in the Liz Earle Naturally Active Skincare range have been tested for comedogenicity. However, we believe that one ingredient that could cause a product to be comedogenic is mineral oil and this is not something that is used in our skincare range, as we believe that plant oils are better for the skin.

We can confirm that our Gentle Face Exfoliator is a physical exfoliator where you lightly massage onto face and neck in circular movements, concentrating on the forehead, nose, chin and jawline, avoiding the eye area.
