BIDENS PILOSA
(Also known as Spanish needles)
A plant extract derived from a relative of the daisy family, Bidens pilosa works by mimicking retinol’s mechanism of action, helping to reduce the appearance of common signs of skin ageing. By adopting similar action to retinol, it targets areas prone to loss of firmness and plumpness, providing impressive results in smoothing the appearance of wrinkles but with minimal side effects.
KIGELIA FRUIT EXTRACT
(Kigelia Africana)
Renowned for its skin-plumping benefits, which leaves skin feeling supple, we responsibly source our organic-certified kigelia fruit extract from Zimbabwe. Here, the supplier’s focus is on generating income for rural communities through the sustainable and equitable harvesting and processing of wild growing plant products.
SHEA BUTTER
(Butyrospermum parkii)
Renowned for its excellent emollient properties and ability to help improve the barrier function of the skin, we source our shea butter from West Africa, where the pulp of the fruit is removed to reveal the kernel, which is boiled and dried in the sun before being shelled for pressing.
CARROT SEED OIL
(Daucus carota sativa)
Rich in ‘carotenoids’, carrot seed oil can help support an even, healthy-looking skin tone and visibly brighten the appearance of skin when applied topically as part of a skincare formula. It’s this ingredient that gives Superskin™ Alt-Retinol Skin Paste a distinctive golden hue.

Gentle and pore minimising
I have become a convert to this lovely product while on a seemingly futile search for a primer that helped to minimise pores when applying foundation. Hormonal changes have played havoc with my skin and I really needed to find a product that combatted this change in my skin temperament. Now, using this 2-3 times a week, I find foundation sits more cleanly on my skin and my pores are more refined. It even helps to keep excess oil down, and leaves my skin feeling smooth and soft.

Will the retinol paste help with my deep wrinkles on my top lip

Our Alt-Retinol Booster is water-based and so will sink deeper into surface skin like a serum and should be applied prior to moisturiser, this helps tackle deeper lines and wrinkles. Our Alt-Retinol Skin Paste is a thicker overnight formulation that works on the upper layers of your skin, leaving your skin more plumped and smooth.
When using any of our products for the first time, we would recommend that you carry out a patch test first.

We recommend using the Superskin Alt- Retinol Skin Paste 2-3 times a week in the evening, after cleansing and toning, there is no need to apply moistuirser or Superskin Concentrate for Night Oil.

Hello, we recommend using the Alt-Retinol Boosters in the morning, after cleansing and toning, these can be used every day.
We would recommend using the Alt-Retinol Skin Paste in the evening 2-3 times a week after cleansing and toning (No need to apply moisturiser on these evenings)

Yes because Alt Ret is not retinol it is a natural alternative to retinol.

Hi, thanks for getting in touch. I can confirm that our plant powered Alt-Retinol duo do not contain retinol. Instead the plants help to mimic the retinol like action whilst being kind to the skin.
They will improve the texture of your skin, help with the appearance of fine lines and deeper lines. Our Superskin Alt-Retinol Skin Paste also helps to minimise the look of pores. What products should I use to help improve my rosacea?

I'd certainly recommend our Calming Botanical Drops. A weekly treat or instant fix to regain control, even skin tone and reduce sensitivity. These also help to calm redness. You might also like to try our CICA Restore Skin Paste. This creamy, easy to apply treatment works to visibly improve the appearance of imperfections overnight by restoring skin's moisture barrier, while also providing 48 hours of intense hydration. Enriched with a gentle but powerful combination of naturally active ingredients including restorative Centella asiatica (CICA) and resurrection plant, plus bilberry and wild plum to soothe and comfort. Whilst we do have a number of customers who suffer with particularly sensitive skin and skin conditions such as acne rosacea, unfortunately there are no guarantees that individual products within our range are going to suit everyone. We can confirm that there is no retinol in our Superskin Alt-Retinol Booster or Superskin Alt-Retinol overnight paste, both formulations contain a gentle retinol alternative which mimics a retinol-like action, while being kind to the skin.
All our product, including both Superskin Alt-Retinol products have been safety assessed to ensure they are safe for intended use, which includes use during pregnancy – however, if you have any specific questions or concerns we would recommend speaking to your GP or midwife.

Hi, do I need to use a sunscreen after using alt retinol?

We recommend wearing an SPF product every day all year round (our Environmental Defence Cream Mineral SPF 25 is great for providing everyday protection). However, our Alt-Retinol range does not increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun like some traditional retinols, so it is not absolutely required.

Both our Superskin Alt-Retinol Skin Paste and CICA Restore Skin Paste, are overnight masks which can be used as part of your night-time skincare routine 2-3 times a week, after cleansing and toning. They both deliver different skincare benefits, so we recommend alternating the two when your skin needs.
Our Superskin Alt-Retinol Skin is made with highly effective retinol alternative, helping to smooth the appearance of lines and wrinkles, leaves skin feeling supple, refreshing its appearance for a brighter, plumped, radiant-looking complexion, while also refining the look of pores
Whereas, our CICA Restore Skin Paste has been formulated with a gentle but powerful combination of naturally active ingredients to visibly improve the appearance of imperfections overnight leaving the skin looking healthy, soothed and comforted, while providing 48 hours of intense hydration.
You would apply them in the same way; apply a thin layer onto your face, avoiding the delicate eye area. The paste will slowly disappear as your skin absorbs the product. Please note with the Alt-Retinol Skin Paste the correct amount should leave you with a golden glow, before sinking into the skin. Leave on overnight and wash off with your morning cleanse.

How would this fit into my routine with superskin overnight mask? I only use this sometimes other times I just use my superskin moisturiser at night. I am 51 years of age with combination skin, starting to see some deeper lines and slackening.
