This naturally active ingredient – sourced from a relative of the chrysanthemum that grows in abundance in France – delivers a retinol-like action helping to minimise the appearance of wrinkles, for younger-looking skin. Traditionally used as a herbal medicine, stevia is renowned for the smoothing, wrinkle-softening power it has on the appearance of skin.
ELDERBERRY EXTRACT
(Sambucus nigra)
Elderberries are a rich source of bioflavonoids, which have antioxidant properties and help to brighten the appearance of skin and improve the look of skin tone. We source ours from Poland, handpicked on land protected to support biodiversity.

Disappointing....
I was really looking forward to trying this, so started to use it as soon as it arrived. I've now been using it for exactly one month, morning and evening, and can honestly say it's not made any difference to my lines at all.
I'm 62, and have a few around my mouth, which are quite unsightly, so was hoping for at
least a bit of a softening, but no! I still have some to use and will keep going until it's all finished but I'm not really holding out any hope. Very disappointing.

I have been using this for three weeks or more now but sadly have not seen any change or benefit whatsoever which is very disappointing as I always believe Liz Earle products to be reliable and reviews were good.

Too expensive
One drop from the pipette wasn't enough which meant the bottle only lasted 2-3 weeks. The drops in themselves felt good on my skin and gave a temporary improvement in lines straight after application. I don't think they are value for money due to being too expensive for the amount in the bottle.

Fantastic!
I love the Superskin range. It really makes my mature skin look smooth. This serum is the best! It really does smooth out lines on my face. Faint lines disappear and the deeper, sleep lines are much less defined.

Early days but so far so good
I've only been using this for a week so waiting patiently to see the full effect as I'm hoping it will help with a couple of new lines on my forehead. I initially used it morning and night but noticed a couple of very tiny pimples so have dropped it down to just morning while my skin gets used to it. My skin is looking noticeably more radiant and fresher (I'm also using the superskin serum)

Can I use hyaluronic acid after the drops and before moisturiser?

We haven't tested our products for use alongside hyaluronic acid, however, our Alt-Retinol products are suitable for all skin types, even sensitive. Both products are formulated with natural retinol alternatives and designed to be gentle on the skin - just like our moisturisers.

Our Alt-Retinol Booster is water-based and so will sink deeper into surface skin like a serum, to help tackle those deeper lines and wrinkles and should be applied prior to moisturiser. Our Alt-Retinol Skin Paste is a thicker overnight formulation that works on the upper layers of your skin really helping to plump and firm the skin.

I use the the Retinol Booster every morning before my usual serum and moisturiser routine. At night I always use the Superskin Concentrate and add the Booster a few minutes beforehand allowing it to be absorbed.. Is this the correct procedure?
I follow the same routine as you indicate and have to say the Retinol Booster seems to be working really well. I have had a dry patch on my forehead for ages and use of the Booster is reducing the dry patch. At night I use my rich cream moisturiser with two drops of booster added. Of course everyone soon is different it what feel right for you.

Powered by plants, this product does not contain retinol, so is gentle on the skin whilst helping with the appearance of fine lines and deeper wrinkles. This can be used daily as part of your routine. Apply 2 - 3 drops after you've cleansed and toned, before you moisturise. Just avoid the delicate eye area. Our Superskin Alt-Retinol Booster can be used daily, by either applying 1-2 drops to clean, dry skin (after cleansing and toning) for a more targeted treatment, or it can also be mixed into your chosen moisturiser.
Additionally, where this product is water based, like our Superskin Face Serum, you could use these as a combination to feel the full benefit of the Stevia which mimics a retinol-like action in our booster, as well as collagen boosting pomegranate flower extract which is included in our Face Serum, making this a great dynamic duo tackling both fine and deeper lines. (Cleanse, tone, booster, face serum - or mix serum and booster, followed by your chosen moisturiser).
Alternatively, you can opt to use the Alt-Retinol Booster within your morning skincare routine, and we would recommend using the Superskin concentrate at night only. The water-based element of the Booster makes them tricky to mix together.

With the alt-retinol products, do you need to wear sun protection like normal retinol?

We recommend wearing an SPF product every day all year round (our Environmental Defence Cream Mineral SPF 25 is great for providing everyday protection). However, our Alt-Retinol range does not increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun like some traditional retinols, so it is not absolutely required.

Can i use this product on my neck as well as my face?

Yes, you can most certainly apply the Superskin Alt-Retinol Booster on your face, neck and décolletage area. We would recommend to apply onto clean dry skin (after cleaning and toning) and you can use the booster in two ways.
Use alone: Apply directly to any area showing signs of ageing for targeted results- Apply 1-2 drops into your hands, warm and smooth over the skin avoiding the eye area, then apply your moisturiser.
Mix it: Mix 1-2 drops into your moisturiser and massage into the skin, avoiding the eye area.

Is this suitable for skin with Roseacea?

However, whilst we do have a number of customers with skin conditions such as Rosacea commenting positive results, our products are not intended for medical use. There are no guarantees our range will suit everyone, as we don’t know what ingredients your skin may be sensitive to. Therefore we would highly recommend carrying out patch test the products before use, to make sure they are suitable for your skin.
