Featuring formidable hydrating, soothing and cooling properties, our aloe vera is harvested in the morning to maximise the amount of juice the sword-shaped fronds yield, before being freeze-dried to create a powder.
CALENDULA EXTRACT

Well-known for its calming and soothing effect on skin, we source our calendula from Egypt, where our ingredient is solvent extracted from the petals of the flower.
CHAMOMILE EXTRACT

Legendary for its skin-soothing properties, the flowers of this aromatic perennial are harvested in England in the summer, before the ingredient is solvent extracted from the fragrant flower.

Great tonic as a toner
I have always loved Liz Earle products since I was recommended to buy her cleanse and polish and toner way back in 2009 for my acne on my chin (came back on face at age 48!) cleared up a treat! I used the tonic to clean extra on the cleansed face.

Lovely smell but not for my skin!
Such a shame- bought this to go with gift of face wash, but it really does not like my sensitive skin. Love the smell and does make skin clean and polished. Unfortunately for me also gave me sore and blustered skin. Love Botanicals perfume but skin care not for me

Such a lovely toner
My winter skin needed a hydration boost as i usually get some dry patches during winter time. I've been using the instant boost skin tonic every morning (still using an exfoliating toner in the evenings)in the last few weeks and it seems like it's exactly what my skin needed. Dry patches are gone and my skin feels more balanced. Would definitely purchase again.

I have used Liz Earle products for over 25 years and I still love using them today. The skin tonic is simply the best out there. Leaves my skin feeling so fresh and calm. There's no dry feeling after using it and your skin feels hydrated and looks fresh and glowing. I can't be without it .

Disappointed with change.
I bought a couple of bottles for my sister (who lives abroad) as she loves this toner. Unfortunately I purchased the round bottles which were slightly cheaper not reusing that the formulation had changed.. Very disappointed, the lovely fragrance that I expected was missing, and it just didn't seem the same. Didn't have enough time to exchange.. Was disappointed, but happy to know the old formula and bottle is coming back according to the little insert explaining. Why mess with what is good is my question..

Not as good as it was
I don’t think liz Earle products are as good as they used to be. This certainly doesn’t smell as heavenly as it used to. I think I will buy a different toner from now on rather than continue with this. The mist toner by Tropic is gorgeous.

Skin Tonic
I was lucky to receive this as a present originally and I fell in love with the products so I have bought more for myself and my daughter ! It’s amazing and cleaning off any dirt off my skin and is so gentle and leaves me feeling clean and fresh. My skin has been so much softer for using this ! My daughter is suffering from acne and she’s found it’s been helping her skin too and has calmed down the aggravation from her flare ups . Totally recommend!

Nice toner
I actually like this toner and wasn’t expecting to after reading the reviews. It smells quite gentle a bit like a baby product. Nice shaped bottle too though which is another reason I wanted to try this one. Apparently though you are going back to the previous shape and ingredients.

Not the same as original!
I bought this in the outlet assuming it was the same skin tonic as the one in the rectangular bottle. It's not. It kind of foams when I use it. I looked at the ingredients and they are slightly different to the original. Shouldn't be called the same product as it's misleading.

I would also like to know whether LE is doing anything about the change in formula given all the negative reviews. It doesn’t look like anything has progressed in the last 2 months when you said you were working on a solution ….
You can buy the skin tonic in the original formula if you look on the website..the cleanse and polish is the same as it always was, it still has that lovely smell and it’s thick and creamy and to me hasn’t changed

The 50ml new look bottle states underneath, ‘new look, same product’, however I have one of the new look bottles in the 200ml size and comparing the ingredients with the old bottle there are clearly 2 new added ingredients listed 3rd and 4th. Not as good.

is the product suitable for teenage acne? is the product non-comedogenic? how often should I use the product?
Original formula would have been great but not the new formula as it now tacky, foamy and stinging on the skin.

Why can’t I buy the pump action version of face wash, I really don’t like the squeezy tube. Fortunately I am still able to buy it n a high street store.

Most disappointed by the change in formulation of your skin tonic, but even more disappointed that the change is not highlighted on website, which is unethical considering your target customers. Please explain why not. (& cf John Lewis website).

We can confirm that we have replaced the synthetic PEGs in both our Instant Boost Skin Tonic and Eyebright Soothing Eye Cleanser with gentler, certified sustainable plant-based alternatives. We understand that increasingly customers want to use only the most gentle, naturally derived ingredients on their skin. Recently, the safety of PEGs (polyethylene glycol) has come under scrutiny. This is less to do with the PEGs themselves and more to do with the potentially problematic impurities that can be created as by-products when they are synthesised. While many suppliers have updated their processes to eliminate these risks, many customers prefer to avoid PEGs altogether.

What's happened to this previously reliable product? I've been this on my rosacea prone skin for 15 years with no problems. New formula has irritated my skin & made my eyes sore. Please give us the option of the old formula!

While our recent update to replace PEGs with plant-based alternatives is intended to make the formulation gentler for the majority of our customers, we are aware that every individual is different, and some people can react to ingredients that are gentle for most people, in the same way that some individuals have specific food intolerances.
