Cocoa flower

COCOA BUTTER

Famous for its excellent emollient properties, we source our cocoa butter from West Africa, where fermented beans of the cocoa tree are roasted, cracked and ground to give a powdery solid called cocoa mass, from which cocoa butter is pressed.

Rosemary

ROSEMARY EXTRACT
(Rosmarinus officinalis)

Used for its antioxidant properties, we source our rosemary from Spain, where the extract is filtered from the needle-shaped leaves of the plant.

Chamomile

CHAMOMILE EXTRACT
(Anthemis nobilis)

Legendary for its skin-soothing properties, the flowers of this aromatic perennial are harvested in England in the summer, before the ingredient is solvent extracted from the fragrant flower.

Eucalyptus

EUCALYPTUS ESSENTIAL OIL
(Eucalyptus globulus)

Renowned for its purifying properties and invigorating aroma, we source our eucalyptus from China, where our essential oil is steam distilled from the leaves of the fast-growing eucalyptus tree.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Convenient and effective Cleanses easily without use of cotton wool. I prefer the pump dispenser because you don't have to struggle getting the last of the product out such as a tube.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product to use I would say for all skin type I have been using Cleanse & Polish for several years now and I do occasionally try other products. I always go back to Cleanse & Polish because I think you need a very clean skin for makeup, etc., and this has never disappointed my expectations. I would thoroughly recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best cleanser 💖 I have used Liz Earl products for about 20yrs. I love them. Any time I have used another cleanser, toner moisturisers I have quickly returned to cleanse and polish, nothing beats it. It may not be the cheapest but it is the best. I have very fair sensitive skin and prone to excema and have never had a reaction from Liz Earl products. As I’ve aged I have moved to the super skin range of moisturisers which I love, the new one with serum in is superb for my dry sensitive and aging skin! Thank you 🙏

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Ever How I wish i'd discovered this product in my youth. Love it, love it, love it. Smells lush, does the job, leaves skin feeling sooo clean. Been using it for about 6 years and my daughter now uses it too (she was 25 when i introduced her to it). Will use this until i breathe my last breath, thank you Liz Earle.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Changed Recipe? I’ve been using this for 25 years, so clearly I thought it was good . Over the last couple of years I felt that something had changed - smell, consistency? This latest batch has confirmed it - definitely different. I would say less eucalyptus and rosemary? Skin is cleaned but doesn’t feel as fresh afterwards. I’ve doubled-cleansed for years, using a second more astringent product. Wasn’t really necessary but now it is, or skin is left with a fairly greasy, not-quite-clean feel. I’m devastated! This was my go-to product, reliably good. So disappointed. Please go back to the old recipe.

Does it matter if I soak the cloth into a cold water instead of hot??

Asked by: Larm
Thank you for your question. We recommend using warm water when cleaning, rather than very hot or very cold water as these two extremes can irritate the skin. We hope this information helps. Quality and service are at the heart of everything we do, so please contact us if you require any further assistance. - The Liz Earle Customer Care Centre Team.

Hi can I ask why does this pump no longer come with a muslin cloth? Always used to unable to use cleanse& polish without it all the other c& ps have one makes it Very expensive having to buy an additional cloth regards Pearl

Asked by: Star girl
Hi there, thanks for getting in touch. We are on a journey to improve the sustainability of our packaging, and pump packs present more of a technical challenge for finding an easily recyclable solution that can also work with our formula safely. We have been continuing to look into this issue with our suppliers, however, we hope our customers will enjoy getting all the same Cleanse & Polish™ benefits from purchasing our eco-conscious tubes, which are not only recyclable, but also made using 55% post-consumer recycled materials. Whilst there are currently no plans to discontinue our Cleanse & Polish in the pumps, we have made the decision to no longer sell our Starter Kits with the cloths in the pump dispenser in the hope, that more of our customers will choose to purchase our fully recyclable 100ml Tube Starter Kit which comes with two cloths. We hope this information helps however, should you require any further assistance with this, we would ask you to kindly contact our Customer Centre by calling 01983 813913, or email naturallyactive@lizearle.com - The Liz Earle Customer Centre Team

In this hot weather can you use cold water instead of hot, does it still give same benefits

Asked by: Mims69
Hi there, thanks for getting in touch. Once our Cleanse & Polish has been removed with the pure cotton cloth, you can then rinse your skin in cold or warm water however, we would not recommend using extreme hot or cold water on the skin as this may cause some redness or sensitivity. We hope this information helps - The Liz Earle Customer Centre Team

My skin has started feeling dry after I have used the cleanse and polish. I am not sure why. Do you have any advice? I follow with your toner and then moisturiser.

Asked by: Suz27
Hi, thanks for getting in touch. We're sorry to hear that your skin feels dry after using our Cleanse & Polish. If your skin is feeling particularly dry or a little unbalanced, we'd recommend our Probiotic Milk Cleanser. Our Probiotic range will protect and strengthen skin`s natural moisture barrier to prevent water loss through the day/night for velvet soft, deeply hydrated and balanced skin. This can be used continuously, or when you feel that the condition of your skin has improved, you can try returning to our Cleanse & Polish. We hope this information helps - The Liz Earle Beauty Co. Hi, is this suitable for teenage acne? And does the 200 ml come in a pump form? Should I use the cloth twice a day? is the product non-comedogenic?

Asked by: mmauve
Hi, thank you for your question. Our Cleanse & Polish is ideal for teenager acne prone skin types it contains eucalyptus and rosemary which gently purifies the skin, ridding it of excess oil without harshly stripping the skin (which causes more oil production). The exfoliation of the cotton cloth also helps to free the skin of blackheads, blemishes and excess oil while keeping the pores clear, for a clearer brighter complexion. For the best results we would recommend cleaning twice a day using the cloths. We can confirm we have a variety of sizes a 100ml or 200ml tube, and also a 100ml pump. None of the products in the Liz Earle Naturally Active Skincare range have been tested for comedogenicity. However, we believe that one ingredient that could cause a product to be comedogenic is mineral oil and this is not something that is used in our skincare range, as we believe that plant oils are better for the skin. We hope this information helps. - The Liz Earle Beauty Co Team.

Hi there,  I have something called bletheritis (eye condition) is this product sensitive enough for sensitive eyes?  Do you have any samples I could try?

Asked by: Victor
Thank you or your question. Whilst we do have a number of customers with conditions such as bletheritis commenting positive results, our products are not intended for medical use. There are no guarantees our range will suit everyone, as we don’t know what ingredients your skin/eyes may be sensitive to. Therefore, we would highly recommend carrying out patch test the products before use, to make sure they are suitable for your skin. A small amount should be applied close to the area of intended use (behind the ear is ideal in this instance). Should you experience any redness, irritation or discomfort during the next 24 hours or at any point during use, then you should immediately discontinue use and get in touch with us. We do not have samples to send we’re afraid, where we have such a generous returns policy. If for any reason your purchase is not suitable for your use or you do not like, we are happy to exchange or refund within 60 days of you receiving your order, even after you've tried it. We feel this is more beneficial to our customers than providing samples, as it gives you the opportunity to try the product for some time to decide if it is suitable for you before committing to your purchase. We hope this information is helpful, but please do not hesitate to contact our customer centre team on 01983 813913 if we can be of any further assistance. – Liz Earle Beauty Co.

Is a wash cloth included with the 200ml cleanser?

Asked by: Frenchliving
We sell our Cleanse & Polish (200ml and 100ml tubes) both with and without cloths, as we appreciate that the cloths may not be required each time and we like to provide a choice to our customers. Its called a 'starter pack' with the cloths included which comes in a green box along with the cleanser, and if the cleanser is without the cloths it will be the tube or pump on its own. The price is also reflected both with or without the cloth accessory. Furthermore, our trio sets of Cleanse & Polish do not include the cloths and they are the singular items on their own. Hope this helps. – The Liz Earle Team.

Asked by: Hev66
Hi there, thanks for getting in touch. I am pleased to confirm that whilst the packaging has been updated, we have not updated the formulation of our Cleanse & Polish. Would you like to email us directly at naturallyactive@lizearle.com and let us know where your Cleanse & Polish was purchased, the size, and the batch code - which can be found on the base of a pump, or the crimp at the top of a tube, for example - U1234A. Does the actual packaging changed?

Asked by: Anonymous
Hi there, thanks for getting in touch. We can confirm that we have updated our Cleanse & Polish packaging and the new packaging of Cleanse & Polish is 55% r-HDPE (recycled High Density polyethylene) & 45% ULDPE (ultra low density polyethylene).   So it is a mix of polyethylene which will be widely recyclable via kerbside here in the UK. We do hope this helps. - The Liz Earle Beauty Co. Team

Are your products gluten free?

Asked by: Revlaurajane
Hi, thanks for getting in touch! Our suppliers have confirmed to us that the wheatgerm oil we use is gluten-free. The oil is cold pressed and deacidified; these processes mean that gluten is left behind and will not be present in the oil. Also, the Natural Source Vitamin E (Tocopherol) we use in our products is derived from soyabean oil and as such is also gluten-free. Nevertheless, as a common sense precaution we would always recommend a 24 hour patch test is conducted prior to the first use of any new skincare product. It might help you to know, that a full ingredients list for each of our products can be found on our website. I hope this information helps however, if you do require any further assistance, please reach out to our Customer Centre by calling 01983 813913 or email naturallyactive@lizearle.com – The Liz Earle Beauty Co.
