About this cream

Primes and protects for visibly healthy-looking skin. Our easily absorbed lightweight cream is formulated with naturally derived mineral UV filters and antioxidant plant extracts to help protect your skin from the elements and prime it for the day ahead.

 

Our non-comedogenic formula delivers SPF 25 broad spectrum protection from UVA and UVB rays, blue light and pollution while enhancing skin's natural defence barrier.

 

Enriched with a priming, light reflecting pigment that blends with all skin tones, plus blueberry seed oil, lingonberry seed oil and shea butter, skin is left looking healthy and luminous.

Blueberry Seed Oil

BLUEBERRY SEED OIL
(Vaccinium myrtillus)

High in potent antioxidants, we use blueberry seed oil in our Environmental Defence Cream SPF 25, as it helps the cream work as a natural shield against blue light. Thanks to its high fatty acid composition, it also supports skin’s natural moisture barrier, resulting in hydrated and nourished skin. Sustainably sourced and produced; we extract this ingredient from 100% upcycled blueberries – a waste product of the juice production industry.

Lingonberry Seed Oil

LINGONBERRY SEED OIL
(Vaccinium vitis-idaea)

Known to be a powerful antioxidant with a reputation as a health-promoting superfruit, we use lingonberry seed oil in our Environmental Defence Cream SPF 25, as it helps the cream work as a natural shield against blue light. This botanical is also known for its conditioning properties and for helping boost skin’s natural moisture barrier. We source these wild self-sustainable berries from Finland and Sweden.

Shea Butter

SHEA BUTTER
(Butyrospermum parkii)

Renowned for its excellent emollient properties and ability to help improve the barrier function of the skin, we source our shea butter from West Africa, where the pulp of the fruit is removed to reveal the kernel, which is boiled and dried in the sun before being shelled for pressing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Hard to apply, looks flat, causes breakouts This is really hard to apply, as it is so thick and pale and does not absorb well. Once applied, it makes me skin look flat and dull. Worst of all, very time I have used it, it has caused quite severe breakouts, which are a rarity for me these days. I have tried leaving it for a week between uses to see if the breakouts are unrelated, but I sadly conclude that this cream is the culprit. This is the first time in nearly twenty years that a Liz Earle product has let me down, and it has shaken my confidence in the brand slightly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Suits my skin This lovely, light cream is just what I have been looking for. I use a light moisturiser beneath it, it goes on very smoothly with no pilling, and I have had no irritation to my reactive skin. I appreciate the proction from blue light as well as UVA/UVB.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Environmental defence cream. Started to use recently. Very little is needed and it is tinted. I use under make up trying to let the product dry before putting on foundation. I'm keen to avoid my sunspot area worsening so time will tell if this does the trick. Having been told recently by a Dermatologist to use a mineral skin protector this is what I am trialing.

It has a colour to it that disappears after applying. Lovely smooth texture that blends well with the Superskin moisturiser. I’m happier knowing my skin is better protected from environmental issues.

It has a tint so you are not putting a thick white layer on your face as with some other sun protection creams.

Why does your suncream contain Titanium Dioxide, if it is banned all over European countries in food,causing lung cancers in animals and humans ?.

Do you still need a primer before applying make up, or is this sufficient?

Our easily absorbed fluid contains SPF25 that protects your skin against UV, blue light and pollution without harming the planet, suitable for all skin types and tones through a mineral formulation. This primes and protects for visibly healthy-looking skin. You may find that you don't need to use a primer alongside this however, should you wish to continue using a primer, this should be applied before our Environmental Defence Cream SPF25. Why does this product( the environmental defence cream) need moisturiser on first ? I just want to put moisturiser on that has SPF in it - every other company seems to manage this.

Hi, thanks for getting in touch. As our moisturisers can be used both morning and evening, we have chosen not to include SPF as this is not required in the evening. We would recommend applying this after your moisturiser to ensure your skin is fully mosturised so the product melts nicely into the skin.
