BLUEBERRY SEED OIL
(Vaccinium myrtillus)
High in potent antioxidants, we use blueberry seed oil in our Environmental Defence Cream SPF 25, as it helps the cream work as a natural shield against blue light. Thanks to its high fatty acid composition, it also supports skin’s natural moisture barrier, resulting in hydrated and nourished skin. Sustainably sourced and produced; we extract this ingredient from 100% upcycled blueberries – a waste product of the juice production industry.
LINGONBERRY SEED OIL
(Vaccinium vitis-idaea)
Known to be a powerful antioxidant with a reputation as a health-promoting superfruit, we use lingonberry seed oil in our Environmental Defence Cream SPF 25, as it helps the cream work as a natural shield against blue light. This botanical is also known for its conditioning properties and for helping boost skin’s natural moisture barrier. We source these wild self-sustainable berries from Finland and Sweden.
SHEA BUTTER
(Butyrospermum parkii)
Renowned for its excellent emollient properties and ability to help improve the barrier function of the skin, we source our shea butter from West Africa, where the pulp of the fruit is removed to reveal the kernel, which is boiled and dried in the sun before being shelled for pressing.

Surprised at this product
I have in the last couple of months returned to using Liz Earle products following about 12 months with a French companies products.
I like the eco part of Liz Earle and as someone with
sensitive skin I am pleased to be back supporting a British Company.
I bought the environmental Defence Cream SP 25 thinking it would help with keeping the harmful suns rays away from my pale complexion. Howe delighted I was to find that the cream contained a tint which blended with my skin and I only needed a little for my usual foundation to cover blemishes.

A make up staple
I’ve relied on this product for a long time.
It’s brilliant because there is nothing else like it - I don’t use a primer or a foundation, just this. Better coverage than a tinted moisturiser, lighter than a foundation but with vital sun protection. What’s not to love?

Not the product for me
I don't know if it protects from sun because there hasn't been any for me to see if I end up scorched!
However, it's not a repeat buy for me. It doesn't sit nicely on my skin. It sits in wrinkles making them look worse, or looks way to glossy or patchy. I've tried different methods and amounts of application based on replies to other feedback, but nothing provides what I need.
I always extend face cream down to neck and decolletage. The tint in this product then gets on my clothes.
Makes me look drier and more aged than before. Will use it up for the sake of the presumed UVA UVB protection.
If Liz Earle had an untinted product that you simply put on your face without any special technique, then I would swap it out.
I'm using alongside a Liz Earle glow cleanse, tone, moisturise process and had overall hoped for better results that I am not getting. Cheaper brands have had better results on my skin, but they are not the non toxic. I respect the Liz Earle ethic and the products were recommended by a friend, so they must work great for some people.

Good investment
So glad that Liz Earle have introduced this product. An SPF that feels light on the face and more importantly, doesn't irritate my combination skin. Also I am of mixed heritage and the "tint" blends in no problem.

Is this water resistant?

I have been desperate for something with an Spf and so was very excited when this came out even though it's very expensive for daily use but how can I prevent it forming rolls when I use foundation after?
Hello, thank you for getting in touch and for your feedback. Here are a few tips that might help make your mineral formula work for you:
1. Make sure you’re applying Environmental Defence Cream after your moisturiser – this will ensure you are protecting your skin’s natural barrier. Allowing the cream to sink in for at least 30 seconds – 1 minute can also make a big difference to how the formula sits on your skin before you apply your foundation.
2. You may find you get a better finish by applying Environmental Defence Cream to your face section by section. Dot generously onto the forehead, nose, cheeks and neck before gently blending with your fingertips one section at a time, ensuring you’re using enough cream to fully protect your skin. If you prefer an all-over approach that’s also okay – whatever works best for you!
3. Be gentle with your application. As our formula is rich in physical UV filters in powder form, over rubbing can cause a pilling effect where the minerals separate and accumulate on your skin. This can make it harder for them to blend in , especially when you’re using the defence cream before make up.
4. Check how much you’re applying – too much can lead to over rubbing and the above pilling effect may occur. We recommend using a grape sized amount to start and then determining if you need a little more or less depending on your particular skin type.

Does the Environmental Defence Cream SPF25 provide protection equivalent to regular SPF25 sunscreen - or is it necessary to wear sunscreen as well?
Hello, thank you for getting in touch. Our Environmental defence cream is designed to be perfect for all year round protection. It is a 3-in-1 protection designed for your day to day protection needs as 90% of sun exposure happens in daily life- this include cloud cover- not just sunny days. We recommend reapplying Environmental Defence Cream at least once during a regular day, similar to how you may top up your make up at lunchtime. However on hotter days, or when you know your skin will be more exposed, we recommend reapplying more often while also wearing a wide brim hat. Remember, our formula is designed to protect skin from a range of everyday environmental aggressors, such as UV rays, blue light and pollution, but should not be used to protect skin while sunbathing.
If you were intentionally exposing yourself in an environment much stronger than the UK sun, we would always advise a higher SPF specifically designed for Sun protection as opposed to an all round protection product. I do hope this information helps. – Liz Earle Beauty Co.
