Wanted to love this
I really wanted to love this as the Liz Earle hot cloth cleanser is part of my daily routine. The pluses are that it smells good. The downsides were that it sat on my skin and didn’t really absorb well and my face felt sticky when wearing it. A heavier cream than I expected, but it might be good if you need a rich cream in the winter.

Lovely cream
I really like this cream, it absorbs into the skin leaving it feeling so soft and hydrated. It does have an oat scent to it initially but once it’s absorbed in to the skin you can’t smell it anymore.

Such a lovely cream but horrible smell

Good cream not too greasy

I liked that it absorbed well and didn’t feel greasy so could apply make up soon after.

Lightweight but could smell better!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a really nice lightweight day cream. It absorbs into the skin nicely and creates a good base to apply makeup on top of, as well.
But two things would put me off purchasing this again in the future.
Firstly; I tend to look for a day cream that has some degree of SPF in it. This not having that makes me reach for other day creams in my skincare collection first.
And secondly; this has quite an unpleasant smell to it. It's hard to describe but it is somewhat off-putting and I haven't really gotten used to it.
If you don't mind these two things, I would still recommend trying it out though.

Perfect day cream!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a fantastic day cream, although free from artificial fragrance it does have a lovely oaty scent from the ingredients, a lovely scent and not too overpowering, you only need a small amount so the bottle goes a long way, it's ribs in well and I find it absorbs really well leaving no greasy feeling. I had quite dry skin especially as the weather is changing and this works perfectly for me, great to use alone or under my makeup. My only downfall about this day cream is that there is no spf, something I'm very conscious about now as I learn more about skincare.

Moisturising & lightweight but doesn't smell great
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This cream has a thicker consistency to most lightweight day creams that i have used so I was very impressed by how well it absorbed into my sensitive skin leaving it feeling highly moisturised without leaving much of a greasy residue at all. I rarely wear makeup so can't attest to its interaction with foundation but with how well it absorbs for me I can't forsee there being any problems. For anyone who needs a well moisturising but lightweight moisturiser and doesn't mind the lack of SPF I'd recommend this product. My only problem with it is that I can't stand the smell of the product on application, this does fade pretty quickly so the benefits probably outweigh this one downside.

For dry sensitive skin

I have quite dry skin and this Day Cream helps to hydrate, leaving my skin looking healthier. I have however come out with a few spots which I never normally have so not sure if that's anything to do with this cream or not!

Skin feels plumped all day

This is not a thick or heavy cream but leaves my skin feeling plumped and moisturised all day long. As others have mentioned it does have an earthy/nutty smell but this disappears quickly on application. It’s a great base for makeup too as not too heavy. I will continue to use this day cream as I love how it makes my skin feel nourished all day.

Great as a base for makeup

It doesn't leave your skin looking greasy but my face still felt properly hydrated and moisturised. My only criticism would be it doesn't smell great. Not bad but it has an earthy smell.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Lovely light coverage moisturiser which glides on to skin and absorbs well. It does not pill or feel heavy. However, this is not a heavy duty product for dry skin. It is a nice all round product, would be even better if it had SPF in it as it is a day cream. I believe many people would enjoy using this and would feel the benefit with the pro-biotic element and the light cover hydration element, as it is good to sensitive skin, however for me personally, this has not made its way into my daily routine.

Ok for a daily moisturiser.

It’s light and not much smell. I like that it’s a pro biotic too. It wouldn’t be rich enough for me a night time but as I say it definitely depends on your skin. If you like a lightweight moisturiser that sinks in quickly it’s still a lovely product.

Nice probiotic face cream
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] There seems to be a bit of a craze for probiotic skincare at the moment, as I currently have a number of products containing prebiotics or probiotics, which are supposed to help improve your skin barrier and keep in the moisture.
I am a fan of Liz Earle products so was interested to receive this new Probiotic balancing day cream. I don’t know what else is in the range (hopefully a serum or an oil??), so I’ve been using this cream every morning for the last two weeks after my usual cleanser and serum.
It is very gentle: no stinging or irritation. It is also fragrance free, but that of course means it has a “natural” kind of scent, in this case, a bit yogurt like to me!
While it is immediately hydrating, the skin on my forehead does begin to feel dry again after 4-6 hours, which is a little disappointing. That’s why I’m only awarding 3 stars along with the fact I don’t think it has dramatically improved the look of my dry sensitive skin since I started using it, which is one of the claims.

Refreshing moisturiser

Feels great on the skin

I have used day creams before which claim to be fine for sensitive skin but still get redness across the top of my cheeks and under my eyes. None of that with this cream, it goes on well, works under make up and my skin does look nourished.
Have taken off one star for lack of SPF which is one thing I do look for in day creams.

Thin and weird smell

The smell is odd like a foisty smell… I wondered if this is the pro biotic. Then it’s so thin, more like a lotion. Doesn’t feel nourishing. Sad as I normally like liz Earle. Very soothing
This cream is more of a lotion , texture is silky,it applies well, sinks in easily.
I have sensitive skin and eyes, and I find a lot of face creams sting my face, eyes or both, but this is lovely and soothing,with no irritation
However, I did expect it to be richer and more moisturising.it didn’t moisturise my skin all day, and I had to reapply , hence 1 star knocked off. If you have moderately dry skin this will be fine, but not rich enough for mature post menopausal skin like mine.

Soft and soothing
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Really nice and lightweight, you really don’t need much, it glides on the skin with ease, and feels really soothing. Wears so well under make-up too. You don’t think it is going to be so moisterising with it being so lightweight, it is more of a lotion than a cream. Only disadvantage is it smells a bit odd, I’d call it earthy, but you only notice this for about a second! Good product.

Please be assured that the decision to discontinue any product from our collection is not one that we take lightly. We have a lot of love for our products, and much like our customers, we have firm favourites, so we do understand how disappointing it is when one is retired. It may help you to know, that our Pro-Biotic Balancing Night Cream is still available to purchase. The only difference between the two, is that the night cream contains a higher level of Jojoba oil, so this will feel slightly richer on the skin.

Hi there. Would this be good for combination/oily skin which is very prone to breakouts, particularly hormonal ones?
It is a very gentle and lightweight cream which helped me when I have had hormonal breakouts and sensitivity. The cream helps calm stressed skin and I found that using all three products in the pro-biotic range definitely improved my skin.

I notice there is no eye product in the range and no warning to avoid eye area on products (I’m using cleanser, day and night cream). Does this mean products are suitable for eye area? Without getting in eyes obviously!. Thanks for your help.

Whilst our Pro-Biotic Balancing Day Cream is suited to those with dry, sensitive, reactive-feeling skin types looking for an ultra-gentle, deeply hydrating day cream, we would suggest using a cream that has been specifically formulated for the eyes around the eye area. The skin around the eyes is finer than on the rest of the face and so eye creams tend to be lightweight formulations that have been developed to tackle the specific concerns of the delicate eye area, allowing for effective skin absorption without causing puffiness. We would therefore always recommend a dedicated eye cream is used on this area.

Is this cream suitable for skin with acne rosacea? I currently use the light cream but i get many flare ups…
I can have sensitive skin but found this fine to use. Felt my skin was smoother using it and I know some can find the smell off putting but it disappears once the cream is absorbed which is pretty quick. I would suggest trying it as customer service is very good if things are unsuitable. Hope that helps

Does the day cream contain an SPF, this is a must for sensitive skin like mine…

Whilst our Pro-Biotic Day Cream does not contain an SPF, we will certainly pass on your suggestion to our Formulations team for consideration.
You may wish to consider adding our Environmental Skin Defence Cream to your morning routine. This provides mineral SPF 25 protection against both UVA and UVB rays while also acting as a shield against pollution and blue light, which many make up formulas will not provide. The universally tinted lightweight cream can also be used as a primer, so it works well as a base for your make up; giving you a healthy-looking glow while protecting skin.

Will this cream be replacing the Superskin moisturiser? Is it as suitable for sensitive skin as the Superskin unfragranced moisturiser?

However, it's not intended to be a substitute for our unfragranced Superskin Moisturiser and if your skin is particularly dry then you may wish to continue using our Superskin Moisturiser.
