COCOA BUTTER
(Theobroma cacao)
Famous for its excellent emollient properties, we source our cocoa butter from West Africa, where fermented beans of the cocoa tree are roasted, cracked and ground to give a powdery solid called cocoa mass, from which cocoa butter is pressed.
ROSEMARY EXTRACT
(Rosmarinus officinalis)
Used for its antioxidant properties, we source our rosemary from Spain, where the extract is filtered from the needle-shaped leaves of the plant.
CHAMOMILE EXTRACT
(Anthemis nobilis)
Legendary for its skin-soothing properties, the flowers of this aromatic perennial are harvested in England in the summer, before the ingredient is solvent extracted from the fragrant flower.
EUCALYPTUS ESSENTIAL OIL
(Eucalyptus globulus)
Renowned for its purifying properties and invigorating aroma, we source our eucalyptus from China, where our essential oil is steam distilled from the leaves of the fast-growing eucalyptus tree.

Convenient and effective
Cleanses easily without use of cotton wool. I prefer the pump dispenser because you don't have to struggle getting the last of the product out such as a tube.

Great product to use I would say for all skin type
I have been using Cleanse & Polish for several years now and I do occasionally try other products. I always go back to Cleanse & Polish because I think you need a very clean skin for makeup, etc., and this has never disappointed my expectations. I would thoroughly recommend this product.

Best cleanser 💖
I have used Liz Earl products for about 20yrs. I love them. Any time I have used another cleanser, toner moisturisers I have quickly returned to cleanse and polish, nothing beats it. It may not be the cheapest but it is the best. I have very fair sensitive skin and prone to excema and have never had a reaction from Liz Earl products. As I’ve aged I have moved to the super skin range of moisturisers which I love, the new one with serum in is superb for my dry sensitive and aging skin! Thank you 🙏

How I wish i'd discovered this product in my youth. Love it, love it, love it. Smells lush, does the job, leaves skin feeling sooo clean.
Been using it for about 6 years and my daughter now uses it too (she was 25 when i introduced her to it).Will use this until i breathe my last breath, thank you Liz Earle.

Changed Recipe?
I’ve been using this for 25 years, so clearly I thought it was good . Over the last couple of years I felt that something had changed - smell, consistency? This latest batch has confirmed it - definitely different. I would say less eucalyptus and rosemary? Skin is cleaned but doesn’t feel as fresh afterwards. I’ve doubled-cleansed for years, using a second more astringent product. Wasn’t really necessary but now it is, or skin is left with a fairly greasy, not-quite-clean feel. I’m devastated! This was my go-to product, reliably good. So disappointed. Please go back to the old recipe.

Can cleanse & polish be used by my 11 year old granddaughter. Her skin is becoming greasy
Cleanse and polish balances the oils in the skin.its good for oily skin and also dry patches on the skin. Leaves skin feeling soft and moisturised. Cleanse and polishes can be used for any age. Wouldn’t be without it.

Has there recently been a change to the formulation of this or your matching toner? This and the toner used to be so good for sensitive skin but I’m finding it is triggering my eczema when it never used to so wanted to enquire whether you’ve changed it?
I have sensitive skin and also have used the tonic for years. I haven’t noticed any change as yet , but I am using tonic that is 6 months old .

Have you recently changed the formula in any way? I've been using this for years and have recently noticed it's not as creamy as before, plus the fragrance doesn't seem as strong
I have been using this for 20 years and I’ve most recently noticed that this is now leaving scum in my sink after use and it never did that before. There must have been a change to some cheaper ingredients for it to do this. The original smell is also changed as it’s lost that eucalyptus scent.

How to useLIZEARLE Naturally active napkin?

Used alongside our Cleanse & Polish, our Pure Cotton Cloths will gently exfoliate the skin. Rinse the cloth under hand-hot water and gently wring it out, then wipe away all traces of cleanser from your skin. Use with circular movements to stimulate the skin, dislodge dead skin cells and lift away impurities and make up. Rinse thoroughly after every use and allow the cloth to air dry naturally. We recommend that you pop them into a 30 degree white wash after every few uses to keep them fresh and clean.

Has this changed, over the last few months I noticed a distinct sludgyness in the consistency, am looking for something else instead. It definitely not as good as it used to be.

We can confirm that there have been no recent changes made to the formulation of our Cleanse & Polish.
Sometimes, due to differing harvesting methods we use along with the different locations and seasons, this can affect the natural plant oils and botanicals we use in our formulations. This may impact the colour, aroma or texture of a formulation. This should only be very minimal though and does not affect the performance of the product.

Our products have been tested in accordance with industry standards and show a minimum shelf life of at least thirty six months. Many specific environmental factors influence the shelf life of a product, which means that we are unable to confirm for how long your Liz Earle product can be stored unopened once it has been despatched to you.
On each of our products you will find the EU standard Period After Opening (PAO) symbol which identifies the 'lifetime' of a product once opened for the first time. It can be used as a guide once your product has been opened. The number inside the image of the pot tells you the number of months of this product's lifetime once opened, for example 9M indicates 9 months.

Suitable for all skin types including sensitive, the whole family can enjoy our Cleanse & Polish which is suitable for children from 10 years.
This deeply cleanses and will gently exfoliate, to reveal clearer-looking skin. Used with the gently exfoliating pure cotton cloth, it lifts away dead skin for a smoother, brighter-looking glow.
All our formulations are suitable for even the most sensitive skins however, as with all our products, we would recommend that you carry out a patch test when using any product for the first time.
