Primes and protects for visibly healthy-looking skin. Our easily absorbed lightweight cream is formulated with naturally derived mineral UV filters and antioxidant plant extracts to help protect your skin from the elements and prime it for the day ahead.
Our non-comedogenic formula delivers SPF 25 broad spectrum protection from UVA and UVB rays, blue light and pollution while enhancing skin's natural defence barrier.
Enriched with a priming, light reflecting pigment that blends with all skin tones, plus blueberry seed oil, lingonberry seed oil and shea butter, skin is left looking healthy and luminous.

BLUEBERRY SEED OIL
(Vaccinium myrtillus)
High in potent antioxidants, we use blueberry seed oil in our Environmental Defence Cream SPF 25, as it helps the cream work as a natural shield against blue light. Thanks to its high fatty acid composition, it also supports skin’s natural moisture barrier, resulting in hydrated and nourished skin. Sustainably sourced and produced; we extract this ingredient from 100% upcycled blueberries – a waste product of the juice production industry.
LINGONBERRY SEED OIL
(Vaccinium vitis-idaea)
Known to be a powerful antioxidant with a reputation as a health-promoting superfruit, we use lingonberry seed oil in our Environmental Defence Cream SPF 25, as it helps the cream work as a natural shield against blue light. This botanical is also known for its conditioning properties and for helping boost skin’s natural moisture barrier. We source these wild self-sustainable berries from Finland and Sweden.
SHEA BUTTER
(Butyrospermum parkii)
Renowned for its excellent emollient properties and ability to help improve the barrier function of the skin, we source our shea butter from West Africa, where the pulp of the fruit is removed to reveal the kernel, which is boiled and dried in the sun before being shelled for pressing.

Quite pale
As others have mentioned, it does have an unpleasant smell, but that does disappear once it’s on your skin. The main reason I dislike it is that it is too pale for my from my skin, despite the claim that it suits most skin tones, and I am not particularly dark skinned or tanned. How

Perfect for me.

Disappointing
I’m disappointed with this product. It doesn’t absorb easily and sits on the skin in patches. Skin feels sticky for hours after applying and has a powdery appearance. Such a shame because I want a tinted natural SPF but this is not it.

Lives up to it name.
I’ve had this about 2 week and have used it everyday, including 2 afternoons painting en plein air. The weather has been sunny and very windy!(we are in the Sussex coast ). My skin feels comfortable with it as long as I use serum and moisturiser. I have not burnt so it works. Unlike some other reviewers I quite like the smell. It seems natural to me. Good product. Does what it says. I bought it with a Liz Earle discount so very good value.

Allergic reaction to the cream
I've now tried using Environmental defence cream on afew occasions giving a break between each attempt but I'm having awful breakouts which take days to over a week to recover from. My face and kneck becomes very red and highly blotchy and uncomfortable and I'm getting lots of spots which I'm not prone to.I've checked to make sure it's not other products I use, but it's definitely this. I'm in my 50's and have sensitive skin.

Love this cream!
I love this cream…I use the super skin moisturiser in the morning then apply this cream over it before applying my make up. It goes on lovely, I like that it’s tinted and my make up looks nicer I think!

Awful!
Bought this from Boots on line and started trying to use a few weeks ago. Despite trying various moisturiser under it and none it sits in clumps and does not absorb. The overall effect is patchy and odd . I’m going back to my Clinique city block which is head and shoulders better.

Great cream. Love it!
I absolutely love this cream. When I first saw it was tinted I was a bit sceptical but it rubs in really easily and gives my skin a lovely fresh look and feel. I don't use a foundation so this is perfect. Very light but gives a great protection of SPF 25. I wouldn't be without it now. One tube lasts for ages as you don't need much for an application.

Good cream with effect of foundation
I started using this product about 2-3 year ago and I'd usually use it between March and October as I find it enough moisturising and also with the effect of a foundation, so I apply it after cleansing and toning the skin and no need of more make-up - so it's quick and easy for busy moms. Though can make a skin a bit dry sometimes, but not making skin heavy when it gets really warm. Also great that it has SPF 25 so no need to put any additional cream to protect from the sun.

A lovely surprise!
I received this as an added gift in a recent order and will certainly be buying it in future. I don't wear face make-up because, although I would like to have something that very lightly covers the various blemishes on my face, I've always disliked the rather pasty feel and texture of make-up (and that includes, sadly, the Liz Earle Sheer Skin Tint, although it's better than most.) I decided, without much hope, to give this Defence cream a try because of its gentle tint; and I'm very pleasantly surprised! It does a great job on the look of my skin and I don't notice it's there! Unpleasant scent!
I have been an avid user of Liz Earle products for over 20 years and am very pleased with all their products. However, I bought the Defence Cream about a month ago and have used it just twice; the scent is so unpleasant and rather off-putting that I won't be using it again. Also, it barely added any tint to my skin, so still needed a light foundation. Very disappointing Liz Earle!

Good but not really working for my skin type
I love the idea of this cream and it is a great product for most everyone else but me. I have overactive sebum production. I really need some kind of mattifying or balancing in this product to work better for me. Its such a shame as i wanted to love it more.

Why does this product( the environmental defence cream) need moisturiser on first ? I just want to put moisturiser on that has SPF in it - every other company seems to manage this.

As our moisturisers can be used both morning and evening, we have chosen not to include SPF as this is not required in the evening.
We would recommend applying this after your moisturiser to ensure your skin is fully mosturised so the product melts nicely into the skin.

You shouldn't need to use a separate makeup remover to remove our Environmental Defence Cream, this should be easily removed, in the evening with your usual cleanser.

Is the environmental defence cream slightly tinted. I hoped it would give a little coverage to be able to leave off foundation.

Suitable for all skin types and tones, our Environmental Defence Cream has been developed with a naturally derived tinted pigment that blends well with all skin tones in order to dispel any pale cast on skin. The also makes a great primer for makeup.
