COCOA BUTTER
(Theobroma cacao)
Famous for its excellent emollient properties, we source our cocoa butter from West Africa, where fermented beans of the cocoa tree are roasted, cracked and ground to give a powdery solid called cocoa mass, from which cocoa butter is pressed.
ROSEMARY EXTRACT
(Rosmarinus officinalis)
Used for its antioxidant properties, we source our rosemary from Spain, where the extract is filtered from the needle-shaped leaves of the plant.
CHAMOMILE EXTRACT
(Anthemis nobilis)
Legendary for its skin-soothing properties, the flowers of this aromatic perennial are harvested in England in the summer, before the ingredient is solvent extracted from the fragrant flower.

Have been using Cleanse and Polish forever 20 years. Wouldn't dream of using anything else. What can I say, it's wonderful. My skin is looking pretty good for my age (75) and I credit Cleanse & Polish for that. Don't need to wear foundation for which I am grateful.

Great product but watch out!
This product is excellent and one of the few things I buy over and over. One thing to be aware of though is that there is a body polish in almost identical packaging which I picked up accidentally. Unfortunately I used it on my face without checking and it really burned my eyes and also because I’d then opened it I couldn’t return it so am out of pocket.

Good cleanser but not for me
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I thought this cleanse and polish felt very refreshing but after using a sample tube my nose appeared red and inflamed. I stopped using it as I am not sure that using it every day, day and night, is helpful. By the time I realised it was affecting my skin, I had already ordered a large tube but will use it once a week instead of daily.

An absolute essential!
This iconic cleanser removes make up and even the gloopiest SPF gently and efficiently. I love it for the fact that I don’t need to use messy cotton wool balls etc.
I’m in my mid-70s but still get compliments about my skin. This cleanser exfoliates so well that I no longer get milia and tiny spots.

Buttery radiance in a tube

Best cleanser that ever existed
I’ve been using this for over 25 years now and my skin has never found a better cleanser. It’s taken me through earlier years of oily skin with a tendency to inflammation (this cleanser calmed it down), then through the menopause and now into years where my skin is drier. Using the cleanser feels refreshing in the morning, and is a soothing meditative ritual in the evening….my skin just loves it. This is the one product that would put me in crisis if it didn’t exist!

My 14 year old grandson has started to get spots is Cleanse and Polish suitable for him and does he need to use the Instant Boost Skin Tonic and Skin Repair Cream or is Cleanse and Polish adequate.
Everybody’s skin is different but I do find cleanse and polish cleanser works well to keep my skin clear. I personally feel it works better alongside the tonic and I never skip moisturiser. When the skin is dry, it can produce more oil to try and combat this which can lead to more spots. Liz Earle have a few different moisturisers he could try to see which one works best with his skin type. Hope this helps.

Love this cleanser but could you make smaller bottles that are reusable? They would be great for use when travelling.
Hi, thanks for getting in touch. Whilst we do have 30ml and 50ml options available for our Cleanse & Polish, a refill system is not something we are looking to introduce.
Unfortunately, offering multiuse or refillable packaging is not an option as some of our formulations can be sensitive to light and by changing the container, this opens the formulation to a different environment. Our packaging is primarily developed to protect the product and to provide a quality customer experience.

Can cleanse & polish be used by my 11 year old granddaughter. Her skin is becoming greasy
Cleanse and polish balances the oils in the skin.its good for oily skin and also dry patches on the skin. Leaves skin feeling soft and moisturised. Cleanse and polishes can be used for any age. Wouldn’t be without it.

Has there recently been a change to the formulation of this or your matching toner? This and the toner used to be so good for sensitive skin but I’m finding it is triggering my eczema when it never used to so wanted to enquire whether you’ve changed it?
I have sensitive skin and also have used the tonic for years. I haven’t noticed any change as yet , but I am using tonic that is 6 months old .

Have you recently changed the formula in any way? I've been using this for years and have recently noticed it's not as creamy as before, plus the fragrance doesn't seem as strong
I have been using this for 20 years and I’ve most recently noticed that this is now leaving scum in my sink after use and it never did that before. There must have been a change to some cheaper ingredients for it to do this. The original smell is also changed as it’s lost that eucalyptus scent.

How to useLIZEARLE Naturally active napkin?

Used alongside our Cleanse & Polish, our Pure Cotton Cloths will gently exfoliate the skin. Rinse the cloth under hand-hot water and gently wring it out, then wipe away all traces of cleanser from your skin. Use with circular movements to stimulate the skin, dislodge dead skin cells and lift away impurities and make up. Rinse thoroughly after every use and allow the cloth to air dry naturally. We recommend that you pop them into a 30 degree white wash after every few uses to keep them fresh and clean.
