Primes and protects for visibly healthy-looking skin. Our easily absorbed lightweight cream is formulated with naturally derived mineral UV filters and antioxidant plant extracts to help protect your skin from the elements and prime it for the day ahead.
Our non-comedogenic formula delivers SPF 25 broad spectrum protection from UVA and UVB rays, blue light and pollution while enhancing skin's natural defence barrier.
Enriched with a priming, light reflecting pigment that blends with all skin tones, plus blueberry seed oil, lingonberry seed oil and shea butter, skin is left looking healthy and luminous.

BLUEBERRY SEED OIL
(Vaccinium myrtillus)
High in potent antioxidants, we use blueberry seed oil in our Environmental Defence Cream SPF 25, as it helps the cream work as a natural shield against blue light. Thanks to its high fatty acid composition, it also supports skin’s natural moisture barrier, resulting in hydrated and nourished skin. Sustainably sourced and produced; we extract this ingredient from 100% upcycled blueberries – a waste product of the juice production industry.
LINGONBERRY SEED OIL
(Vaccinium vitis-idaea)
Known to be a powerful antioxidant with a reputation as a health-promoting superfruit, we use lingonberry seed oil in our Environmental Defence Cream SPF 25, as it helps the cream work as a natural shield against blue light. This botanical is also known for its conditioning properties and for helping boost skin’s natural moisture barrier. We source these wild self-sustainable berries from Finland and Sweden.
SHEA BUTTER
(Butyrospermum parkii)
Renowned for its excellent emollient properties and ability to help improve the barrier function of the skin, we source our shea butter from West Africa, where the pulp of the fruit is removed to reveal the kernel, which is boiled and dried in the sun before being shelled for pressing.

I bought this a couple of months ago as I needed something with an SPF. Is slightly tinted and goes on easily, it is a little runny so care is needed when using it. A little goes a long way. I’m very very pleased with it.

Works well

Nice tinted moisturiser however the tube allows too much product use each time so won’t last as long as I’d hoped still use this daily under my moisturiser as it has a good SPF

Sticky and greasy
I love all Liz Earle products but this one I’m sad to say wasted my money. It felt like foundation going on and left my hair around my face really greasy. I just wanted something that would protect my skin from elements but this felt like makeup. I’m not a fan of foundation… love all the other skin products though.

Great Product
I've been using this product for approx 6 months and I love it. I love the way it soaks into my skin leaving a nice healthy glow with no unevenness, I love the fact that it protects my skin from the sun and the outside world and it also provides a great base for adding make up should you wish to. Personally I feel this product gives me enough coverage so I don't feel I need to apply any foundation.

Pleasantly surprised
Been using this for 3 weeks because I bought the microdermabrasion cream . First time of using I was disappointed as the cream seemed to roll into little balls on my skin , not sure if I’d used too much or because I used it the first time after using the microdermabrasion but every day since it’s been fine . It gives my skin a glowing look , even had comments on how nice my skin looks . I love this product

Good for allergies to chemical sunscreen
As someone who has to wear mineral sunscreen it is difficult to find a good product that doesn’t make your face white. Would given another point but still leaves some screen showing on my face, but better than a lot I’ve tried.

Leaves a lovely glow
I love adding this as my final step in my morning routine. It leaves a lovely glow to the skin and just blends in beautifully. Careful not to use too much of the product, as it does tend to create a crumbled residue if you rub your skin too much during application. Apply less of the product so less effort is needed to rub in the cream for coverage.

Doesn't absorb into skin
I thought this cream would act as an SPF moisturiser. But rather it seems to sit on the surface of my skin and makes my skin feel drier. The 'tint' is pretty noticeable too, with my friends asking if I'm wearing makeup... not the subtle moisturiser I was going for.

A good product I think for younger skins than mine
I bought this product thinking that it would suit me,however, I found it a bit too heavy for my skin, also I do like a much higher spf but more of a liquid something a little lighter.
It is a shame because it is the only product of Liz Earle that I have not given 5stars to.

Ready for the day!
I got this free when it was first brought out, when buying some other products from the John Lewis stand. I don't usually wear foundation everyday but after getting reading in the morning I put this on with a little mascara, and feel so much more confident and ready to present to the world! It gives a subtle foundation style sheen without being foundation, and without having to colour match. I have very pale skin and am in my late 30's. It does have a slightly thick texture which I equate with it being part suncream, and it goes on really well after using the Liz Earle cleanser, toner and day creams. I'm so glad I found it!

Very disappointing
I bought this product a few weeks ago when it was on offer having wanted to try it for some time. I have very fair, mature skin (although in good condition at 62 having used Liz Earle skincare for 7-8 years), and scarring from surgery so I was looking forward to the environmental defence cream's SPF and priming qualities. Unfortunately it just felt heavy and as though it was actually drawing moisture out of my skin! Also it accentuated my fine lines. If I hadn't discarded the packaging, etc, I would have returned it for a refund.

I found this quite uncomfortable to wear, skin constantly felt very dry and tight.
Great shame as I have been looking for an all in one moisturiser with SPF25. Should have been okay has some lovely ingredients but not for me unfortunately.

Why does this product( the environmental defence cream) need moisturiser on first ? I just want to put moisturiser on that has SPF in it - every other company seems to manage this.

As our moisturisers can be used both morning and evening, we have chosen not to include SPF as this is not required in the evening.
We would recommend applying this after your moisturiser to ensure your skin is fully mosturised so the product melts nicely into the skin.

Is the environmental defence cream slightly tinted. I hoped it would give a little coverage to be able to leave off foundation.

Suitable for all skin types and tones, our Environmental Defence Cream has been developed with a naturally derived tinted pigment that blends well with all skin tones in order to dispel any pale cast on skin. The also makes a great primer for makeup.
