COCOA BUTTER
(Theobroma cacao)
Famous for its excellent emollient properties, we source our cocoa butter from West Africa, where fermented beans of the cocoa tree are roasted, cracked and ground to give a powdery solid called cocoa mass, from which cocoa butter is pressed.
EUCALYPTUS ESSENTIAL OIL
(Eucalyptus globulus)
Renowned for its purifying properties and invigorating aroma, we source our eucalyptus from China, where our essential oil is steam distilled from the leaves of the fast-growing eucalyptus tree.
JOJOBA BEADS
(Jojoba esters)
Prized for their gentle exfoliating action, jojoba beads leave skin clearer, brighter and more polished. To create our naturally biodegradable beads that are kind to the environment, pale yellow jojoba oil is hydrogenated to create a hard white wax, which is then warmed and dropped from a height to create smooth spheres.

Gentle and effective
A couple of months ago I used a new skincare range which brought me out in dry,red patches and tingling skin. I sought advice from Caroline Archer who suggested I use the Probiotic range and this has proved to be amazing,getting my skin back to normal.When I ordered the Probiotic,I received the gentle exfoliator as a free gift but was very wary of starting to reintroduce exfoliator,oil etc back into my routine in case my skin reacted again.However, I needn’t have worried and have been using the exfoliator once a week for a few weeks with no problems.It really deep cleans my skin without being too abrasive.

Gentle but effective
I bought this a couple of weeks ago as I felt my skin was looking dull and I was starting to get breakouts .I have used it twice a week and the difference is great , my skin has started to look healthy and breakouts have stopped .It is so easy to use , takes a couple of minutes and feels gentle on my skin .An added bonus to me is the lovely small .

Wonderful gentle exfoliator
I just love this Liz Earle Gentle Exfoliator. I’m never without it although I use it regularly once a week, sometimes twice when I feel the skin on my face needs brightening. I can feel the tiny grains working their wonders and with what is left on my fingers I exfoliate my hands too. They feel soft and smooth afterwards. A lovely product and it lasts for ages.

Great product
I bought this last month and the product is great however the packaging isn’t. It comes in a metal tube compared to the other product packaging. It’s not easy to ‘fold’ and the metal splits meaning the product leaks out of the holes which become sharp. I will purchase again but the packaging isn’t great.

I had this as a small travel size in a gift set at Christmas & decided to order a full size as it is a lovely product, only need a small amount each use, I use it 1-2 times weekly, smells great too, my skin feels super soft & clean after using, I also use the hot cloth cleanser & the skin tonic, all lovely products.

Great product but don’t like new packaging
I have used and loved this product for years, but really don’t like the new aluminium tube packaging. The lid is extremely fiddly to get back on and the tube doesn’t stand up well on a shelf. I realise that you want to be more environmentally friendly, which I am all for, but this is just not a good design. I wish it was in the same tube as your cleanse & polish.

Dreadful new packaging!
I’m all for environmentally friendly packaging, but it still needs to be functional! The new aluminium tubes are simply not fit for purpose! After a certain amount has been used the product won’t even stand up on the bathroom shelf! Also my Mum has arthritis and can’t unscrew the small cap. Was the new packaging tested with your valued customers first? I’m fine with the pump being removed as it wasn’t essential, but I don’t understand why you can’t have this in the same type of tube as your bestselling product; Cleanse & Polish! I would be very surprised if you haven’t lost quite a few sales due to this, please sort it out! Thanks

Love it but bring back the pump!
I adore this exfoliator and have been using it for years but I can’t stand the new tube. I usually exfoliate in the shower and like others just find the lid too fiddly to put back on unless you have two hands free to line it up exactly. Not to mention the waste, when you squeeze the tube a little a whole load of product keeps coming out and all gets trapped in the lid. I loved the pump bottle it came in before, one pump and job done. The new packaging is enough to put me off buying it again and I will be shopping around.

Gentle and smells lovely
Beautiful gentle exfoliator and a gorgeous fragrance just like cleanse and polish. Leaves my skin glowing and not harsh like some exfoliators. I use twice a week as a pampering bath treat before my mask.

Great exfoliator - shame they changed packaging
Lovely to use on my skin without being harsh. Have used it for years - however SO frustrating they have changed packaging. The pump was so much easier to use in the shower and control how much used then this fiddly container, please bring back option of a pump!

So gentle!
I have extremely sensitive skin ( eczema history) . Have had steroid injections etc. can only use cleanse and polish and gentle face exfoliator . They are both outstanding for me. Can’t use much else because of fragrance etc so for people like myself these two items are a godsend . Please don’t change the range! Great as they are .

Hate the new packaging
Been using this for years and love the exfoliator. However I absolutely hate the new tube and may not buy it again because of this! I'm used to grabbing it in the shower and hardly having to look to use it. Now I'm stood there trying to get the lid back on. It's a pain and I assume a cheaper option.
Why do they have to change something customers have been buying for years.

Great product - new packaging is awful
Love this exfoliator, have used it for years, and it keeps my skin looking beautifully clear without drying it out. But the new packaging is not fit for purpose, hard to get the product out, the lid doesn’t go back on well and I keep this in the shower and it has grown mould over it - unlike any other product in my shower so I assume it’s the metal tube. Unfortunately am now going to have to find a new exfoliator.

Same Great product , Poor Packaging
I have been buying this exfoliator for years and cannot fault the product itself. Since the packaging has been changed from the plastic pump to a tube I find it so difficult to replace the lid as it will not screw back on easily and is such a faff. I understand why the packaging has been changed, but there must be a better alternative, such as recycled plastic? From reading other reviews I can see that other people are having the same issues.

It’s best on damp skin. The exfoliator itself is great, however due to the dreadfully impractical packaging I just cant use it anymore.

Could you tell me if you are actively looking at different packaging options for this product in light of the reviews or not? I won’t be buying it again until the packaging is sorted.

Our new packaging is made from recyclable aluminium. Not only this, the range looks much more consistent with one another, making it easier to find the targeted solution for your skincare need.

What is the difference between your 2 exfoliators please?
I use Cleanse and Polish most nights, the Gentle Exfoliator about once a week. I am aged 70. My daughter aged 42 uses Cleanse and Polish every day both morning and night as a 'refreshing daily cleanser' as she describes it. She uses the Gentle Exfoliator every few days, a.m. only as a deep scrub. I love the the Brightening Treatment Mask and use it about 2 or 3 times a week in the morning. It is not like a heavy mud or mask which tightens on the skin, just revitalises and makes one feel and look good.

Hi, is this suitable for teenage acne? is the product non-comedogenic? How often should I use the scrub?

Our Gentle Face Exfoliator is ideal for teenager acne prone skin types where it contains moisturising cocoa butter to soften skin, purifying eucalyptus and fine jojoba beads which gently buffs away dead skin cells and impurities to help clear up blackheads, blocked pores and congested skin. We would recommend using this 2-3 times a week.
None of the products in the Liz Earle Naturally Active Skincare range have been tested for comedogenicity. However, we believe that one ingredient that could cause a product to be comedogenic is mineral oil and this is not something that is used in our skincare range, as we believe that plant oils are better for the skin.

We can confirm that our Gentle Face Exfoliator is a physical exfoliator where you lightly massage onto face and neck in circular movements, concentrating on the forehead, nose, chin and jawline, avoiding the eye area.
