BIDENS PILOSA
(Also known as Spanish needles)
A plant extract derived from a relative of the daisy family, Bidens pilosa works by mimicking retinol’s mechanism of action, helping to reduce the appearance of common signs of skin ageing. By adopting similar action to retinol, it targets areas prone to loss of firmness and plumpness, providing impressive results in smoothing the appearance of wrinkles but with minimal side effects.
KIGELIA FRUIT EXTRACT
(Kigelia Africana)
Renowned for its skin-plumping benefits, which leaves skin feeling supple, we responsibly source our organic-certified kigelia fruit extract from Zimbabwe. Here, the supplier’s focus is on generating income for rural communities through the sustainable and equitable harvesting and processing of wild growing plant products.
SHEA BUTTER
(Butyrospermum parkii)
Renowned for its excellent emollient properties and ability to help improve the barrier function of the skin, we source our shea butter from West Africa, where the pulp of the fruit is removed to reveal the kernel, which is boiled and dried in the sun before being shelled for pressing.
CARROT SEED OIL
(Daucus carota sativa)

Thought I’d give this a try.Hard to squeeze out of the tube but once rubbed into fingers it does melt. I have sensitive skin which I felt a little burn once applied.It did seem to bring me out in spots and to be honest I didn’t really notice a difference with my skin.

I have been using this product for a few months at least twice a week after receiving a sample size as a complimentary gift. That tiny tube allowed for at least 10 applications and my skin felt and looked better moisturised and glowing ( even at 50 ! ) It’s cooling on my skin which feels great, it absorbs just enough to not leave a mess on the pillow and when I wash it off in the morning my skin feels amazing. I have very sensitive skin but this product causes no problem at all. I highly recommend you give it a try.

The smell!
Had a small tube in the 12 days of Christmas. Tried it as stated unfortunately can't see any improvements ohh but the smell it is really something else, it is reminiscent of my compost bin, sorry not for me.

A new product..with trying...
I have been using this for 2 weeks now, every 2 to 3 nights instead of my night cream..
It's lovely to use, just melts into my skin...
I have not noticed any improvement but that could be because I've not used for longer than 2 weeks..
I do trust Liz Earle products, having used them for years... so I shall wait and see..

Amazing product !
Had this as a large sample in 12 days of Christmas calendar. Well - it’s amazing! I have used this about 5 times and the appearance in my skin is so noticeable. It looks plumped and fresh. So good I have bought it for my mum and sister. Definitely recommend

Shame about the packaging Not fit for purpose
I am been using for several months and am really pleased with the results, heals any blemishes quickly and keeps skin looking good and moisturised. I only use on problem spots as it is quite expensive to use lavishly.
But the packaging is really bad, On all 3 tubes that I have purchased, once the tube is half full the lid doesn’t screw on, as the tube becomes deformed. So it is hopeless for travel. It isn’t sustainable as you end up wasting quite a bit of product solely because of the tube design.
Also, With the old style plastic bottles I always cut them in half near the end and used every last bit. You can‘t do this with this type of packaging as it is all stuck together wrinkled as it is more of a mentally type of packaging.
I have found this same problem on a lot of Liz Earle products, I did write to customers services but they weren’t interested in this type of problem and weren’t any use.
Surely it can’t just be me that has a problem with Liz Earle packaging???

Having been sent a small sample of this Alt-Retinol paste I decided to invest in a larger tube..I find it extremely nourishing especially fir someone with very dry and mature skin.The next day after a night application my skin feels wonderful. Firmer well moisturisered and definitely 100% better I've been using about 3 times a week and love it

This alternative to Retinol products is amazing - I cannot rate this product highly enough - I wish that I had found it sooner! I use it around 3 times per week and it seems to definitely make my skin look younger. (I'm in my 50's) I put it on over my night cream - you literally need less than a pea size and it glides beautifully over your face like velvet and the next day, my skin looks so nourished and fresh! I do look after my skin - I have never sat in direct sunlight all my life as so fair-skinned but I do have fine lines - and this product definitely sorts them out. Try the mini version first to see if you get on with it. You will not be disappointed! :)

So wanted to like this product but am afraid it’s not for me. It does not irritate my skin, however, next morning my skin looks dull and dry and wrinkles more pronounced. I would not purchase again but to use it up I apply early evening then before I go to bed I apply my super skin cream or super skin oil and this does help

Can I use this with a serum that contains salicylic acid?

We can confirm our Superskin Alt-Retinol Skin Paste uses a plant-based alternative to Retinol, which helps deliver skincare benefits, whilst being gentle on the skin, meaning minimal side effects. After regular use, skin looks more youthful with a visible reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
There is no retinol in our Superskin Alt-Retinol Paste, so the level is 0 and should not interfere with any other skincare products within your routine, including those that contain salicylic acid. However, please note that our Paste has not been tested with products containing salicylic acid as a direct ingredient.

How long does it last in terms of date of expiry?
Thank you for your question. We can confirm all our products have been tested in accordance with industry standards and show a minimum shelf life of at least thirty six months (3 years).
It may also be helpful to know that on each of our product, you will find the EU standard Period After Opening (PAO) symbol which identifies the 'lifetime' of a product once opened for the first time. It can be used as a guide once your product has been opened. The number inside the image of the pot tells you the number of months of this product's lifetime once opened, for example, 9M indicates 9 months – the shelf life of the Superskin Alt-Retinol Skin Paste is 12 months once opened.

Hi I. Does this paste help with pigmentation and sun damage?
This is very good to use after the exfoliating mask also by itself.Your skin looks smoother and clearer.I think it helps with sun damage but I do still have some pigmentation.I use it twice a week because my skin looks clearer and brighter after using it.

So I cleanse, essence lotion, eye cream, moisturiser and then serum. When using the retinol paste would I just cleanse and put it on or would I do my routine as usual and the make the paste my last step? Thanks in advance.
I find this brilliant product works best after using the cleanse and polish, followed by instant boost. I do apply the eye cream as this is around the orbital bone.
I apply the paste in place of any moisturiser or oil overnight, as (for me) works better this way.

Unfortunately, we're not familiar with other brands, so it's very difficult to advise whether our Superskin Alt-Retinol Skin Paste would be suitable to use alongside your retinol serum. However, this product contains plant based Bidens Pilosa, which mimics the retinol type action and is much gentler on the skin.

Is it non comedogenic (pore blocking) . I have been told to only use non comedogenic products as some immediately cause spots despite cleansing whereas non comedogenic ones don’t . Thank you

However, we believe that one ingredient that could cause a product to be comedogenic is mineral oil and this is not something that is used in our skincare range, as we believe that plant oils are better for the skin.
