We never use microbeads and here is why
When the ban on microbeads in rinse-off and personal care products came into effect in 2018, it was much applauded by the team at Liz Earle Beauty. As an eco-conscious beauty brand, we’d always been aware of the threat these tiny pieces of plastic posed to our planet; and as a result, we have never used them in our products. Instead, when we wanted to create our iconic exfoliator, we sought a gentle, naturally derived alternative.

Go behind the scenes with James Wong
For someone who has been fascinated by the beneficial uses of plants since I was a kid, working as the Liz Earle Beauty Co. Ethnobotanist is a dream job. However, even I have to admit it’s not always without its challenges! Behind the scenes, the amazing team I help support has dealt with everything from adverse weather affecting our harvests to helping combat the loss of biodiversity around the world, all while staying true to our ethical values.

Winter treatment recommendations from our experts
Trying to decide what your mask match will be with winter on the horizon? Achieve healthy-looking skin with a personalised routine
‘How to get healthy skin?’ Probably one of the most searched questions on the internet, and one we ponder daily. A healthy diet, lots of sleep and minimising stress all certainly play a huge part, but what about skincare? Is there a magic formula for healthy-looking skin? Unfortunately the short answer is, no.

James Wongs botanical lowdown on Cleanse and Polish™
As a science geek, I am forever fascinated not only by the natural properties of plants, but how these can be combined to create a synergic effect that is, almost as if by magic, greater than the sum of its parts. The formula to our classic beauty icon Cleanse and Polish™ is a perfect example of this, with a cocktail of plant-based ingredients that team up to create a unique two-phase ritual. So, I thought I’d lift the lid and cut through the geek speak to explain a little more about the key natural actives in the bottle.

James Wongs store cupboard suppers for healthy nutrition
Store cupboard staples – think tinned tomatoes and dried fruit – may not be the most fashionable food trend going, but since fresh produce has become harder to get hold of (and our favourite restaurants and cafes remain closed) these so-called processed foods have really come into their own. And while you might suspect it’s a trade off in terms of nutrition, our Ethnobotanist James Wong disagrees. In fact, in some cases he thinks simple store cupboard foods can be as healthy or even healthier than their fresh counterparts. Collected in the process of researching his most recent book – 10-a-day the easy way – he also has the science to prove it!
