COCOA BUTTER

Famous for its excellent emollient properties, we source our cocoa butter from West Africa, where fermented beans of the cocoa tree are roasted, cracked and ground to give a powdery solid called cocoa mass, from which cocoa butter is pressed.
EUCALYPTUS ESSENTIAL OIL
(Eucalyptus globulus)
Renowned for its purifying properties and invigorating aroma, we source our eucalyptus from China, where our essential oil is steam distilled from the leaves of the fast-growing eucalyptus tree.
JOJOBA BEADS
(Jojoba esters)
Prized for their gentle exfoliating action, jojoba beads leave skin clearer, brighter and more polished. To create our naturally biodegradable beads that are kind to the environment, pale yellow jojoba oil is hydrogenated to create a hard white wax, which is then warmed and dropped from a height to create smooth spheres.

Fabulous gentle exfoliation
I always use Liz Earle gentle face exfoliator emerging from winter to spring. It is amazing for sensitive (& aging!) skin; it isn’t harsh but provides enough power to shed all the build up from being indoors over the colder months. This product brings back a fresh glow to my face and perks me up ready for the new season !

Great product for gentle exfoliating
I love this gentle exfoliator. I have difficult skin with acne rosacea and keratosis pilaris on my face but this helps keep it smoother. However, I don’t like the new tube style. It is difficult to handle if you are not very dexterous. Please bring back pump container.

Smooth skin
Bought this a couple of weeks ago in the 20% sale. Only need a small amount. Not harsh at all. Leaves your skin feeling lovely and smooth. Definitely recommend and will but again. But I think it’ll last a long time.

Lovely gentle exfoliation
I’ve been using this once or twice a week for several weeks now. My skin definitely feels clearer and looks healthier after use. This smells beautiful and the grains are not too harsh like others that I have tried. Also doesn’t leave skin dry afterwards. Love this and will buy again.

Beautiful skin at Christmas
I was lucky enough to be given a Liz Earle advent calendar this year and as a teacher, in the winter term , it was the nicest and most useful gift. One of the advent gifts was the Gentle Face Exfoliator, a beautiful light aromatic cream which takes away the winters unwanted skin and leaves your complexion clear and fresh. I was so impressed with the results that I immediate ordered a full size , along with a toner. The 12 days of Christmas Liz Earle advent calendar really saved my skin pre Christmas and I am so pleased to have discovered this delightful exfoliator

My husband can't do without this product
As with everything in the daily care range I recommended this to my husband as used myself and got friends using this as part of the cleanse and tone routine. He loves it and has less skin breakout and ingrowing hair than he used to, he loves it and won't be without it now.

As a faithful and enthusiastic user of Liz Earl products for the past 20 odd years, I am finding the recent product changes not for the better. My latest purchase of the gentle face exfoliator seems to be a little light on the exfoliating element, and more like a cream, despite assurance from customer services that the formula hasn't changed.

Poor new packaging
I have used the genie face exfoliation for years & love it. Although the product is still lovely, I really dislike the new packaging. The metal tube looks cheap & is difficult to use as it dents where squeezed. I also think it is not as economical as the pump which dispensed the correct amount each time. Sadly I am now reconsidering whether it is worth the price

Gentle exfoliation
I have used LE gentle exfoliator for many years. It is as its name suggests, very gentle. Although it feels as though it’s doing its job it never leaves my skin feeling dry or damaged . I have ageing skin so have to be quite careful and would not use a harsh product. I use it once or twice a week to give a deeper clean and get rid of any blocked pores etc.

Gentle to skin
I have used this for a long time, makes my skin feel soft, exfoliated without stripping the skin of natural oils. The only thing I preferred was when it was in a pump dispenser, just easier to use especially if you’re in the shower.

Gentle and effective
A couple of months ago I used a new skincare range which brought me out in dry,red patches and tingling skin. I sought advice from Caroline Archer who suggested I use the Probiotic range and this has proved to be amazing,getting my skin back to normal.When I ordered the Probiotic,I received the gentle exfoliator as a free gift but was very wary of starting to reintroduce exfoliator,oil etc back into my routine in case my skin reacted again.However, I needn’t have worried and have been using the exfoliator once a week for a few weeks with no problems.It really deep cleans my skin without being too abrasive.

Gentle but effective
I bought this a couple of weeks ago as I felt my skin was looking dull and I was starting to get breakouts .I have used it twice a week and the difference is great , my skin has started to look healthy and breakouts have stopped .It is so easy to use , takes a couple of minutes and feels gentle on my skin .An added bonus to me is the lovely small .

It’s best on damp skin. The exfoliator itself is great, however due to the dreadfully impractical packaging I just cant use it anymore.

Could you tell me if you are actively looking at different packaging options for this product in light of the reviews or not? I won’t be buying it again until the packaging is sorted.

As part of our journey to tread as lightly as possible with the impact we have on the planet, we have updated our mask and treatment range to be much easier to recycle from home. Our new packaging is made from recyclable aluminium. Not only this, the range looks much more consistent with one another, making it easier to find the targeted solution for your skincare need.
Whilst we can confirm we are not currently looking to change this packaging, we will certainly pass your feedback on to our Packaging Team. Comments from customers really help us when making future improvements.
In the meantime, we can confirm that our Gentle Face Exfoliator 15ml travel size does not come in an aluminium tube, but instead comes in our recyclable plastic tubes.

What is the difference between your 2 exfoliators please?
I use Cleanse and Polish most nights, the Gentle Exfoliator about once a week. I am aged 70. My daughter aged 42 uses Cleanse and Polish every day both morning and night as a 'refreshing daily cleanser' as she describes it. She uses the Gentle Exfoliator every few days, a.m. only as a deep scrub. I love the the Brightening Treatment Mask and use it about 2 or 3 times a week in the morning. It is not like a heavy mud or mask which tightens on the skin, just revitalises and makes one feel and look good.

Our Gentle Face Exfoliator is ideal for teenager acne prone skin types where it contains moisturising cocoa butter to soften skin, purifying eucalyptus and fine jojoba beads which gently buffs away dead skin cells and impurities to help clear up blackheads, blocked pores and congested skin. We would recommend using this 2-3 times a week.
None of the products in the Liz Earle Naturally Active Skincare range have been tested for comedogenicity. However, we believe that one ingredient that could cause a product to be comedogenic is mineral oil and this is not something that is used in our skincare range, as we believe that plant oils are better for the skin.

We can confirm that our Gentle Face Exfoliator is a physical exfoliator where you lightly massage onto face and neck in circular movements, concentrating on the forehead, nose, chin and jawline, avoiding the eye area.
